ANDRAX vs StrykerOSS vs NetHunter: what do they do?

Understand the tools, interfaces and practical uses of three Android security platforms before choosing your prepared phone.

ANDRAX-NG, StrykerOSS and Kali NetHunter all bring security tools to Android. The useful buying question is how you want to work: a broad terminal toolkit, an Android interface around common assessment tasks, or a Kali environment that matches your existing workflow. Start with an exercise you want to complete, then choose the platform and hardware together.

What each platform actually does

This comparison is about the working environment. There is overlap between the tools available in the projects, and a longer feature list does not establish better performance on a particular phone.

ANDRAX: a broad tool workbench

ANDRAX-NG is Debian-based. Its published catalogue spans network discovery, web testing, password auditing and software analysis. On Android, Dragon Terminal runs the tools and the D.C.O. launcher organises them. The project also documents a prototype CodeHACK editor and VNC access for graphical applications in its Android interface guide.

Consider this route if you like selecting the right tool for each stage of a task and inspecting its output yourself. A useful order brief might ask for an environment for a web-security training lab, enough room for project files and a comfortable typing arrangement. Name the tools you intend to use so the preparation can match that brief.

StrykerOSS: common tasks in an Android interface

StrykerOSS combines a Debian ARM64 environment with Android interfaces for tools including Nmap and Nuclei. Its current project README documents rooted chroot and rootless QEMU execution options. pent.shop prepares the rooted configuration offered in its listings.

Consider it when an Android interface for recurring discovery and checking tasks suits the way you work. For example, a lab owner may want to inspect which devices are present, review exposed services and record issues to investigate. Choosing a convenient interface still leaves the job of interpreting findings with the operator. A scanner result is a starting point for assessment.

NetHunter: Kali tools and a portable desktop

NetHunter provides a Kali Linux environment and KeX desktop on Android. Kali distinguishes Rootless, rooted Lite and Full with a matching device kernel. Selected USB and wireless functions depend on Full support and the actual hardware. The official edition table explains these differences.

Consider NetHunter when your course, team or existing lab already uses Kali. Write down whether the job is terminal-based learning, graphical desktop work or a specific peripheral exercise. That separates a general software requirement from the need for a particular phone, kernel or adapter. Turn your use case into an order brief

  1. Name the work. Describe the authorised lab or assessment and the tools you expect to use. Include whether you prefer terminal or graphical interfaces.
  2. Define the workspace. Will you work on the phone screen, attach a keyboard, use a desktop session or carry the device between sites?
  3. List peripherals separately. Include the exact Wi-Fi adapter, USB device or hub where you already own one. Ask for the complete connection to be considered.
  4. Plan saved work. Allow room for updates and project files, and decide where results will be backed up. A phone reboot normally preserves installed apps and saved settings.
  5. Choose hardware scope. Select a supplied handset when you need a phone included, or the own-device service when you already have an eligible device.

If your priority is a full keyboard and a temporary session that resets at restart, compare the Ghost PC laptop range as a separate workflow. Choosing an Android security toolkit does not give a phone that laptop's nonpersistent setup.
